What can families do at home?
- Encourage children to identify their feelings (Which ZONE are you in?)
- Have your child identify the size of their problem
- Give alternatives to behavior/ natural consequences when processing reactions
- Talk about your day during family meals or driving
- Develop calming down strategies that will work in your home
- Create a calming down space or bucket (you can fill it with coloring pages, play dough, kinetic sand, slime, fidgets, etc)
- Offer movement breaks to either release energy or calm the body (Cosmic Yoga, GoNoodle, Calm App)
- Consistency and Routines are keys for success
